Frequently Asked Questions
Find quick answers about our probiotic foods, Nairobi delivery, storage, ingredients, and how to enjoy fermented foods every day.
How do I place an order?
Send us your order (product(s) and quantity), then share your delivery location via WhatsApp, DM, or the website checkout form. We confirm the total amount, including the delivery fee, and once confirmed we dispatch your order through Uber or Bolt.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery times depend on your location and rider availability, but most orders are delivered within a few hours after confirmation.
How is the delivery fee calculated?
The delivery fee is based on your location and the rate shown by Uber or Bolt at the time of dispatch. We will always confirm the delivery cost with you before sending the order.
Can I choose my preferred delivery service?
Yes. If you have a preference between Uber and Bolt, let us know when placing your order and we'll use your preferred option where available.
How are the products packed?
All fermented products are securely sealed and packed to help ensure they arrive fresh and in excellent condition.
Do you deliver outside Nairobi?
We currently focus on Nairobi and nearby areas so your ferments arrive cold, fresh, and active. If you are outside Nairobi, contact us before ordering and we will confirm the safest delivery option.
Are all K Ferments products vegan?
Yes. Our kimchi, sauerkraut, probiotic salads, and kitchen pastes are 100% plant-based, preservative-free, and made without animal ingredients.
How should I store fermented foods after delivery?
Keep all ferments refrigerated as soon as they arrive. Live fermented foods continue to mature slowly in the fridge, which protects quality and keeps the probiotic cultures active.
How long do your ferments last?
Most jars are best enjoyed within 3 to 6 months when kept chilled and handled with clean utensils. Flavour can deepen over time because the ferment remains alive.
Is bubbling or pressure in the jar normal?
Yes. Gentle bubbling, a little fizz, or liquid movement are normal signs of active fermentation. It means the live cultures are still working.
How can I use kimchi, sauerkraut, and probiotic salads in everyday meals?
Add them to rice bowls, chapati wraps, sandwiches, eggs, grilled vegetables, nyama choma sides, or simple salads. Our kitchen pastes also work well in stews, marinades, and stir-fries.
Is your kimchi vegan, or does it contain fish sauce?
Our kimchi is 100% vegan. Unlike many traditional or imported kimchi brands, we use no fish sauce, shrimp paste, or animal ingredients, so it suits vegan, vegetarian, and plant-based diets.
Is your sauerkraut pasteurised?
No. Our sauerkraut and all our ferments are raw and unpasteurised, which keeps the live probiotic cultures intact. That is also why every jar must be kept refrigerated rather than stored at room temperature.
Are fermented foods better than probiotic supplements?
Fermented foods like kimchi and sauerkraut deliver live cultures alongside fibre, flavour, and nutrients from whole vegetables, rather than isolated strains in a capsule. Many people enjoy them as a natural, food-first way to support gut health as part of a varied diet.
